6 Fun and Festive Autumn Porch Decoration Ideas

We not only love the changing leaves in autumn, at Campbell’s Flowers in Pueblo, we also love all the fun and festive decorations! One of the best ways to get you and your home into the seasonal spirit is by creating a fun display on your front porch. Whether you have a wrap-around deck, a few steps, or a front door that leads directly to your front yard, you can create a festive design that’ll increase your curb appeal and impress your friends, family, and neighbors. Try out these fun and easy decorating ideas.

Festive Flowers

When it comes to fall flowers, chrysanthemums take the cake. They’re available in just about every color of the rainbow, including all the autumn favorites like red, orange, and gold. Plus, they’re available in lots of varieties, and potted versions will continue to bloom throughout the season. Decorating the front of your house with lots of potted blooms and plants will look lovely for the season. We also love marigolds, kalanchoe, goldenrod, sunflowers, lantana, and potted kale. To make sure your flowers and plants last through the season, be sure to bring them indoors before any frosty weather.

Front Door Decor

Be sure you decorate your front door, too! Front door decorations create a welcoming appearance. Adding a wreath, garland, or other decoration, like this creative basket of harvest apples, will draw the eye upward, making your display feel complete. Choose a floral wreath in autumn colors that complement the color of your front door or get creative with miniature pumpkins, pinecones, ribbons, and acorns.

Be Abundant

A favorite theme for harvest time is the cornucopia, and you can make your whole front porch feel like a harvest cornucopia, too! Mix floral elements with pumpkins, gourds, and anything else that matches to create a look of abundance that adequately celebrates the season. Be sure to maintain symmetry on either side of your door, as this will prevent your display from looking like a messy heap, instead of the autumn masterpiece it is.

Pretty Pumpkins

An autumn display doesn’t feel quite complete without pumpkins. You can either add them to highlight your flowers or make them the stars of the show! However you incorporate them, we recommend selecting a variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and textures to create an interesting group. To make sure they last throughout the season, refrain from carving. Instead, try painting them with autumn-themed stencils or cleverly put your house numbers on a big stack to make sure your harvest dinner houseguests find your door.

Autumn Accents

Give your display loads of personality by adding fun fall embellishments. Pin up cattails and cornstalks. Stack a few bales of hay and put up a friendly scarecrow to welcome your guests. By switching out these types of accents, you can easily transition your fall decorations from Halloween to Thanksgiving.

Toasty Textiles

Lastly, add some inviting, cozy textile accents to your outdoor furniture. Place an autumn-theme mat in front of your door and fluff up a few plaid pillows on your chairs. Put out some warm flannel blankets and get ready to spend a pretty fall day snuggled up with a good book outside.
